I used Gati Express Packers & Movers service, Dum Dum Rd, Lakshmi nagar, Dum Dum, Kolkata, West Bengal for house shifting within 2 KM on 14 Dec’14.
I used this packer & movers service before, with 100% satisfaction. Hence this time I again called them for shifting. But this time their behavior, attitude everything is different.
As per the process beforehand one person(named "Babloo") came to our house & gave us the quotations for shifting after checking & noting up the things.
He did not explain me any of the terms & conditions on that day.
I gave him around 20% advance & he committed to come on time with 3 other people on shifting day & finish between 10 AM to 2 PM.
He turned up with his people as committed. But during packing the things, they were very rude & asking for more charges for packing each & every things.
After loading the things they asked me to pay the total charges upfront. I denied & assured them since I was not aware for this clause, I will pay you now 50% of the charge & rest later after the shifting.
They started arguing with me, but at last agreed to get the full payment after shifting. Since vehicle was small, 2 trips were required to shift the whole things.
On first trip as soon as they reach the destination from source, they denied using stairs & instead using lifts for shifting the things.
I argued with them since shifting by lift is not allowed anywhere & not here also & this thing was pretty much told to them during quotation time. Shifting has to be done from first floor(source) to third floor(destination).
They again started fighting with me literally & denied unloading the things. I requested them since I don’t have much time & was in middle of shifting and agreed to pay the extra price beyond the quoted rate.
Before the second trip they went for lunch & came late. During second time they started quickly packing the rest over things & loaded the things on their vehicle & started.
I follow their vehicle with my car, but suddenly they stopped their vehicle in middle of chaotic traffic in Kolkata & then called me & blackmailed, if I don’t them full money(with extra for not using lifts) now they will not shift the things.
They started harassing me on phone. I told them I have not carried so much money & need to be get it from home. But they were adamant & asked me to pay the money at the spot.
It was around 5:30 PM & getting dark so unfortunately I had to get the money & pay them & then they delivered the goods.
But it is not over yet, after unpacking the things, I found one bag containing some electrical & electronic equipment s missing(contained set top box, phone, wireless router, etc.).
When I later called them & inquired about the missing items obviously they denied being stolen by them.
I narrated the whole incident & you can understand how much me & my family (including 1.5 yr. old child & 80 yrs. old parents) got harassed that day & it was nightmarish experience for me.
