Brilliant from beginning to end

Imagine loving someone so much that you are prepared to do what they wish no questions asked, even if the thought of granting their wish makes your heart rip in two and your stomach twist.

In’The Pact’ the two main characters are teens in love. Chris agrees to aid Emily, his long term girlfriend, end her misery over a harboured childhood secret but with dire consequences. As Chris faces a highly public murder trial both his and emily’s family are put under some serious strain.’The Pact’ is written from various points of view allowing the reader to gain an insight from all perspectives, which in turn enables the reader to form their own opinions and to empathise with how all characters are feeling. The manner in which the book is written leaves the reader feeling as though they are a spectator to the whole thing that is hiding many dangerous secrets, it left me itching to scream at each character the truths  that were hidden, which I believe is a great thing to achieve in a fiction based book. I don’t wish to reveal the ending or too much about the book, all I will say is the revelations throughout culminate in a very emotional and shocking murder trial that will keep you gripped and guessing throughout.

Its far from being a complex read, but its not always necessary to challenge yourself when indulging in a book. This one is great for on a long journey or relaxing in the garden!
