It`s a CHICK FLICK!!!

If actresses like Pooja Bhatt, or Raveena Tandon or actors like Shahrukh Khan, etc.turned producers, so another filmstar who enters in the same category is Manisha Koirala.Manisha Koirala turns producer with her latest release ”Paisa Vasool”.The title of the film is an unusual one, so is the movie worth a watch?

THE FILM:

Moving Images ”Paisa Vasool”, directed by Srini Vas, stars Manisha Koirala, Sushmita Sen, Sushant Singh, Tinnu Anand, and Rakhee Sawant. It is a comedy film, with a different storyline, and starcast, which has no main actor in it, but two actresses, who are the main heroes of this film.

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Baby(Sushmita Sen):Baby is a girl, struggling in Mumbai. She is a confident girl, who wants to make fast money (Paisa Vasool).Sushmita Sen, as Baby, is excellent. She has the most interesting character in this film, with which one can very easily relate. This is Sushmita`s first try on comedy, in which she easily, succeeds.Be it her dialogue delivery, or her appearance, or whatever, she is first-rate.

2.Maria(Manisha Koirala):Maria is different from Baby. She is shy, not so talkative and not so ’bindaas’.Manisha Koirala, as Maria, is also wonderful. She looks what she is playing. One can`t imagine anyone else other than Manisha Koirala in this role, which fits her to the ‘T’.She compliments, Sushmita Sen, at every step.

Makrand Deshpande, as biryani looks weird, (that`s the demand of his character), but does his job, very well.Tinnu Anand, is fine, where as Sushant Singh, as the paralysed Johnny is alright, in his respective role.Rakhee Sawant, is okay dokay, not creating much of an impact, which she did in ”Churaa Liya Hai Tumne”, maybe because she didn`t get a ’mirchi’, song here.(Although, she danced in this film on a song called ’demand’, which was not needed at all.)Her skin show, makes it difficult for family viewing, I must admit.

THE STORY:

Baby is a complete Mumbaikre, a girl struggling in Mumbai. She was an actress, but as she was taller than the heroes, so, she didn`t get any chance in the film industry.Another character is Maria, a girl, who is fed up of her husband. She escapes from her house, and goes to Mumbai, where she has a bakery shop.At a night club she meets, Baby, and both of them become friends. The same night, they listen to a conversation between a don called Jamshed, and a bar-dancer, through Maria`s phone`s cross-connection.Jamshed tells the bar-dancer that he has 3 crore Rs.When, they need money, for survival, they decide to do something dangerous. They plan a robbery, through which they will definitely achieve their target, which is-making some money. They decide to get that money from Jamshed. This is how, they will have some PAISA VASOOL.

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Srini Vas`s, direction is good. Some comedy scenes have been handled very well.Another scene which will grip the viewers` attention is the one where both the girls plan to make some money. The scenes, where people make fun of the name, ’’Baby’’, are funny.Another entertaining scene is where both Baby and Maria go to find Shetty, in a bar, and act as police inspectors. However, some scenes may sound stupid. Also, you will feel that there are too many characters in the film.Another thing which makes this film, weaker is Johnny`s death. This death scene was not needed at all, because, it misfits in a comedy movie, like this one.Screenplay, is just about okay.At some parts, of the movie, you`ll be confused, but the film isn`t of that kind which will make you feel as if, it is getting too confusing. It`s just confusing at parts, but not the whole movie. The most confused part of the movie was Maria`s love for Johnny.Maria loved Johnny, but this thing is not well defined.Dialogues, are witty, and a plus point of the film, because without them, the film would have been nothing.Of course, the performances are very natural, but in a comedy film, dialogues do matter!Editing, could have been more crisper, had the film not stretched so much. The climax, for instance, was really dragged.Another dragged scene was the one where, Maria is stuck in the room, where there is biryani(Makrand Deshpande).Cinematography, is of top class.Bapi-Tutul`s, music for the soundtrack is average. Most of them are remixes like ”Haye re haye mera ghoongta”, etc.The soundtrack gives you the feeling of a non-filmi one.On the screen, the two numbers, ”Helen`s dance remix”, and ”Bindaas(Cest` La Vi!)”, look amazing. They will definitely entertain you.

ON THE WHOLE:

”Paisa Vasool”, is a relief for the viewers from those lovey-dovey stories.Although not perfect, the film is still worth watching, all thanks to the performances, and one-liners.Just leave your brains aside, and see this movie, you`ll definitely be entertained. In short, just be ’bindaas’.
