To begin with, I will write that Palm m100 is just perfect for New Users and Average Users. It is a Mini Mobile Computer which you can take anywhere you like and use at your will.
Some of its PRIME & POSITIVE features include:
(1) Light Weight, Palm Size (I really mean it).
(2) Basic In-built Applications like Address Book, Appointment Book, To-Do List, Memo Pad, and Note Pad (for custom handwritten notes), is again just perfect, for all basic types of necessities.
(3) BackLight Provision to view the screen in dark.
(4) The Product falls true to the listed feature that it has four Touch-On (applications) Buttons (Buttons can be customised).
(5) Also Provision for Time Display at the press of a button. (Extremely useful while traveling and if you do not have a watch).
(6) Address Book, To Do List can be synchronised with Microsoft Outlook or other PIMs, with ease.
Apart from its in-built applications, there is lot of scope to add third-party applications, which are available on Net. You can have many of them, depending on the memory usage. Palm m100 has 2MB of memory which is sufficient for many applications. You will be surprised to learn that the Palm Softwares are extremely tiny.
One can also connect to Internet, by IR Connection or Serially (either through the Hot-Sync Cable or through Modem). However, this would require little expertism.
Some of the Negative features includes:
(1) No Provision for Memory Expansion.
(2) Not even a simple Cover Case packaged with the Unit.
(3) No Printed Manual in the package. One has to download the manual from the Net.
(4) No Color Support on the Screen.
(5) Sometimes frustrating to use the Graffiti Area (especially when you want to write ’’T’’ and it writes ’’ij’’).
(6) The Product is nothing when compared to Advanced Models like m500x, IIIx, Vx, etc.
However, the Positive Features completely overlap the Negative features.
I would like to recommend this product to all the Techie-Students and those Middle Class Executives, who find Paper-Office cumbersome. This is one product which will make your office mobile. One can have mini-computer at hand. It can increase productivity of any dump person.
I would say that Palm m100 is Productivity + Value + Worth (PVW) for the money spent. It is comparatively cheaper against the features. I myself got it for Rs. 7000. And I hope that this review will help my fellow friends to make wise choice.
