Hi Average camera performance, no fast charging, should be at least 32GB storage considering competition, poor gaming performance, no fingerprint scanner
Panasonic’s P55 Max is aimed at users who want the best battery life with a large screen and the latest version of Android. It’s currently the only under Rs 10, 000 to offer a 5.5-inch HD display, Android 7.0 and a massive 5, 000mAh battery.
The design of the P55 Max is old school: it has a metal frame and removable plastic back panel. Under the panel are dual SIM slots and a dedicated microSD slot. This is increasingly rare on budget smartphones. Even the 5, 000mAh battery is removable — you can buy a spare and switch between them or change it yourself.
There is no fast charging so it takes over 4 hours to charge the 5, 000mAh battery to full capacity.
However, its impressive that even with the large battery, the phone weighs only 180 grams — this is similar to most 5.5-inch phones with a 3, 000mAh battery. Thing is, the fingerprint scanner has been dropped. This is now a common feature, one that is now expected on phones that cost upwards of Rs 7, 000.
Hardware includes a Mediatek MT6737 processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. For our daily usage of email, calling, social media app and multimedia consumption, the P55 Max worked smoothly. However, it is not meant for gaming — we noticed low frame rates in games such as Subway Surfers and Hot Wheels: Race off. The 5, 000mAh battery works as advertised — it regularly lasted over 2 days ( with constant 4G/WiFi connectivity) . Even with heavy use, you will typically get a day and a half of battery life.
