Worth Watching, Best Web Series

Panchayat is one of my favorite web series streaming on Amazon Prime. I have seen all its previous seasons. For years, this series has entertained with its simplicity and realistic stories of the village gram panchayat. It is the series that has won the heart of almost all movie and series lovers in the wave of crime dramas and gun battles. Unlike other seasons, season 4 is also full of entertainment and drama. But this season is completely dedicated to Phuleras Panchayat election, away from its real charm of simplicity and relatability. For me, this season was a bit overloaded with the murkiness of politics over human emotions.

The Premise

The season starts a few weeks after the end of season 3. Manju Devi(Neena Gupta) and Pradhan Ji( Raghuvir Yadav) have been facing the toughest challenge in the form of Kranti Devi(Sunita Rajwar) and Bhusan(Durgesh Kumar). Abhishek(Jitendra) can be seen being non-partisan, but actively campaigning for Manju Devis party. Despite Pradhan Jis Dabdaba in Phulera, winning the election was not as easy as it had been so far. Although a little overloaded with political drama, like all its previous seasons, this season too has made its mark on the audience. which you would definitely love.

What Panchayat Season 4 Lacks

Though this season has tried to justify its core USP of joy and innocence, the over-political drama has somehow ruined it. I feel makers should have paid attention to its core beauty, which has made viewers fans of it, rather than emphasizing more on politics. In previous seasons, Pradhan jis character was shown as a clever politician but a good man who was the right choice for Phulera, which has turned into just a politician who tries to win the election and get back to power again, which disappointed me a bit.

What works in Season 4

It’s really praiseworthy how the series manages to bring a supportive character’s arc to the forefront. In previous seasons, Prahlad and this season, Vinod(Ashok Pathak). His exceptional performance is noteworthy, which added charm to the series. Apart from him, the other casts like Ashok Pathak, Durgesh Kumar, Chadan Roy, and Sunita Rajwar have shone brightest. Along with them, Neena Gupta and Jitendra Kumar have done a great performance to make this season a big hit.

Overall, season 4 is also good, but not as impressive as its previous seasons have been. But the story and lead characters have done a great job. Watching this season will also give you the same vibe that you have felt in previous seasons. But I still feel the directors should have worked more on the core of the series, which was quite neglected by showing the over-political intrigue.
