I won’t go into the story of this movie because you all might know it by now.
I will just measure this movie according to my tools of measurement :)
Acting:
Saif Ali Khan : Superb acting!
Sanjay Dutt: Excellent.
Vidya Balan: Really good for a newbie. Though her acting tends to be immature in the beginning, she matures really fast.
Raima Sen: Good
Dia Mirza: She is not enough on the screen to comment on her acting skills!
Music Direction:
Shantanu Moitra : Melodious.
Songs to check out for. Piyu bole, Raat hamari and ’Paheli’.
My pesonal favourite ’soona dil lka aangan’. Check out Sonu nigam’s dard-bhari aawaaz!
Editing:
Hemanti Sarkar: Good. Movie has a good pace.
Dialogoues:
Okay-okay. Apart from one or two impressive dialogues, rest are passe.
Sets:
Wow! The sets are what to watch out for. Some scenes are so superbly designed that they will leave you breathless. There is one particular scene where Saif is boarding a train - the station, platform look like 1960’s original.
Direction:
Pradeep Sarkar : He has worked a lot for this and its his first baby. Accolades for the talented man!
Story:
I haven’t read the novel, so I don’t know whether this credit goes to the novelist or screeplay writer. The story starts at an incredibly interesting point. If the story had begin elsewhere, the impact of the movie would be far far less!
As I said this movie is a visual treat for two reasons. One, of course the beautiful sets and two, Vidya Balan. She looks so refreshingly beautiful. Check her out, guys!
