Parineeta

We are the generation which is devoid of everything except myths. We think we have progressed while the truth is that on time machine we are detoriating. Same happened with Indian cinema and specially in 90’s when pop culture, very rich family stories, nach gana, shava shava, show offs plagued our movies, oriented to potray false indian hood, leaded specially by Barjatya’s , Chopra’s and Johars! Consumed by consumerism. Our government acknowledge their input to cinema by awarding them while they have ruined everything.

Parineeta, was the novel by the same person who wrote Devdas. I have seen the older Parineeta of Ashok Kumar’s too. Story is same but treatment and time differs. Time differs today since the earlier time saw great literatures from indian authors like premchand, Bimal chandra, Tagore, Amrita Preetum, Dinkar, Maithlisharan Gupt and many other titans, due to whom our film industry maintained originality and indian touch.

Especially the Hindi belt and Bengali belt writers who wrote like real intellectuals and kept alive our culture till the death of our mother tongue and arrival of Punjabi culture in Indian cinema happened.

The newer Parineeta is an attempt to get away from this suffocating situation and poverty of truthfulness in indian cinema, by rivisiting the age old story 4th time, but this time by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. And he did justice

Parineeta is a great love story, which inspired many others and worked as templet, Parineeta is not only love story but story of nice humane peoples and a nice, sobre society, which cared about relations and others instead of looting selfishly. It’s a true humane story by Sharat Chandra.

Lalita was an orphan which was adopted by her Mausa and Mausi, and they looked after her with full devotion. She was loved by all. Shekhar is the guy who stays in neighbourhood and their childhood friendship is very strong. Shekhar had high inclination for music and lalita always gave words and lyrics to them. there was no difference between them. They shared common pocket money everything. It was an affection love never said by words but well known by all and accepted even by his dad. Lalita’s mausi’s family was very rich some times ago but got very poor with time. Due to which they had taken 1 and half lakh rupees loan from Shekhar’s father. Shekher father was knowing that these two peoples trusted him too much and were very innocents, he trapped them to acquire the bunglow to develop the hotel. One day Lalita finds out the truth and Girish, just returned from London hels the family. Misunderstanding grown between Shekhar and Parineeta but is sorted out and they get married clandestinely followed by ehavy tragedy. Finaly at last Lalita and Shekher meet again and end is soothing.

Excellent love story I would say. it’s not like suffering story of Devdas and no drinking boozing. A wholesome family movie which will mellow you down and push you to be more sobre person.

Performance is not at par:

This is the probelm with the new generation actors. They have got very unstable nerves and unable to calm down to think coolely before getting into the character. As shown earlier by Shahrukh Khan in Devdas, same wrong thing Sanjay dutt did but for lesser degree. Sanjay Dutt has not done full justice too his role too much, but the role was pen backed. Sanjay Dutt has played the role of Girish.

New found gerl Vidya Balan is ok but not excellent and she lacks sponteniety thogh looking her does not show she is first time in film. But she too lacks the punch and will not last long in the industry.

Saif emerged as winner In the whole movie this actor is brilliant. Inever liked him except in EHT. He played his role with understanding and calmness. He must be appreciated.

Rest actors were alright and did justuce to the role. I liked the moti Bhabhi a lot. Father’s role was ok.

Direction was good but with some potholes which I really disliked

Vidhu Vindo chopra is among the best directors of this industry with RGV, Mani Rathnam, SLB, Santoshi etc. I respect him alot since he ha made great movies like parinda and 1942 a love story as well as gave director like SLB. Here he has done great job and must be appreciated for this but he did some major faults. This could be due to the reason that this time he himself did not direct the movie and instead of him Pradeep Sarkar directed the movie. But how come a Bengali director did miss the essence and environment of Bangla?

1) Just for namesake movie’s atmosphere looked Bangla. The Main Character’s heavily lacked the expression and accent of Bangla. No use of Bangla atmosphere except the durga pooja and Chatterji and the singer recording the song.

This is blunder. either the director tried to escape the research portion of the movie or he was careless on big point. Sanjay leela Bhansali is his student but he did better job with devdas though Devdas is not as good as Parineeta. This could be just due to the present point.

2) Dressing was too no Bangla as well as setups were not satisfactory.

In overall he lacked researched and heavily depended upon the novel itself. Syill Parineeta is a very good movie.

Music and techies   I loved all the musics, spcecially the separation music and train music. Choreography as well as cinematography has been excellent. Editing is nice and landover of the voice for the narration of story done by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan presents more life to the narration and movie. Overall the movie does not allow to loose the attention.

In Overall Parineeta is an excellent cinema and must watch with your family. Black, Page 3, My Brother Nikhil and now Parineeta....bravo Bollywood. It is a good try to get back to the golden days of Indian Cinema.
