Parineeta is another movie of the raincoat genre . set in calcutta , it takes us through the life of lolita(vdya balan), who has a next-door-friend shekhar(khan).
They fall in love before they know what the word means -- Lolita, orphaned at an early age, and Shekhar, who reaches out and gives her the security she craves. They share joys and sorrows through childhood and adolescence, and unknown to them the relationship of an unspoken right they hold over each other metamorphs into a love so intense, they can’t even sense it coming.
It takes an outsider, Girish(dutt) , for them to discover that there’s something between them that’s bigger than both of them.
rest of the cast is okay. raima sen as balan s friend has nothing to do . Diya mirza has a screen time of less than 5 minutes.
But the show stealer in this one is Saif ali khan who as the suspecting lover is great be in romantic scenes , and great as the obsessed lover . balan is good but she needs some toning. Sanjay dutt is as always lovable .
All in all a great movie for serious movie goers.......
