This review is not going to talk much about the story as you should go and see it no writing (except the novel itself) can match Parineeta.
I am writing this review to compare the two movies devdas and parineeta
I will make clear that both the novels are gem and are worth a read.
Here I am talking about the presentation of the movies.
Devdas as far as I go was a really bad movie and sanjay didnt at all do justice with it. In devdas Sharukh was himself rather than being devdas. The subtlelity of the relationship was lost in the dances and huge sets. The reality of human fickleness was lost in the glorified death on sets.
I had lost all my interest on sarath chandra thanks to Sanjays Devdas
then comes parineeta.
Parineeta as a movie takes this subtlelity of relationship as explained by sarath chandra to a level brought out in the novel.
The characters feel real, you can identify with characters as if they were you . Believe me if cinema is about creating illusions then Parineeta succeeds (and so does black).
When I was entering theater I was hoping that I dont come out in between and after I left theater I was thinking of meaning of love and human relationship.
The movie carries the novel gracefully with picking best actors with sets that lok real
Parineeta- vidya balan does fit the role and I have heard that vidu had invested a lot on her
Shekhar- saif ali as ever has enviously carried out the role to perfection and has maintained his niche among the industry
Girish- sanjay dutt , although old has managed grace fully the role of maturity and calmness given to him.
The songs in the movie though not much are all well placed and situational .
This is a movie that has been made not for making it a hit it is a best homage that sarath chandra could have got parineeta and he himself must have enjoyed it if he watched the movie
so friends go out there and watch it and dont forget to take your female companions with you , may be we can learn something from the movie
