David Dhawan, Govinda & Salmaan are back, but this time the Partnership Khichadi is little tasteless.
Well, David - Govinda & David - Salmaan Jodi has given a lot of hits. In fact the sinking career of Govinda was brought on the track by David Dhawan only with films like Aankhen and Shola aur Shanbnam. Even with Salmaan David had given a lot of hits. This time three of them decided to form a partnership to present the Partner but sadly the mazaa of yesteryears is missing.
Storyline:- Those who have seen Hitch, do not need to know the story line. For those who haven’t, here it comes.
Prem (Salmaan) is loveguru who advises / helps Pyar Me Ghayal & Bekaar Majnoos to get their love. Bhaskar (Govinda) is his client who aspires to patao his boss Priya (Katrina) who is Maalkin of 1000 CR ki Jaydaad. Partner is the story of comedy created or we are made to believe that there is comdey, in this process. At the same time, Sallu is the hero and on top of that, bro of the producer of the movie, so how can he be wothout heroine? So there is this crime / page 3 / gossip reporter( I didn’t know there is multi tasking in journalism as well) Miss / Mrs Naina Sahani (Lara Dutta) whom Prem saves twice from the underworld DON sorry Chhota DON(Rajpal Yadav) and falls in love with her. The story is ready. 2 heroes, 2 heroines, 1 DON, some relatives, Rana from Haryana, 1 small kid, some lataka-zataka songs, shooting of Phuket & Dubai and a slow pace.
Now, why have I written Miss / Mrs for Naina? Are Yaar, sab kuchh main hi bataunga kya?
Let’s talk about the performnaces.
Govinda is show stealer. At this age also this MP is flexible and can shake his moti kamar and shoulders. Some of our MPs do Human Trafficking, some take money to raise a question in Loksabha, some run a parallel government (Baahubali) but this MP does his kaam (acting) with the same lagan and mehnat.
Since it’s home production, Sallu has the maximum footage and he tries to do justice for the same but when the script is not strong, he can’t do much.
Kathrina and Lara, both look beautiful & galmorous, dance well, wear sexy clothes and after doing that there is no time for acting. I am sure David didnt expect the same from them. But they are perfect for the role.
But the best performance is by the person behing the scene. Dialogues are the best part of the movie and the writer has written some very amusing lines. His efforts are very well complimented by great timing by both the actors.
It’s a little disaapointment for hardcore Govinda-David and Salmaan-David fans but not to worry. As a member of that Fan club, you have to watch their movies in Stall or lower stall (this class still exists in stand alone theaters) and the ticket amount for this class is negligible. But your paisa is full wasool when you see everyone around you is sitti maroing on every song and dance step, clapping on the dances and sometimes even dancing in the thetater.
My advise - Go for this if you fall into G-D-S Fan club category. Do not sit in balcony as you will feel out of place and go with Gang of like minded friends. I was a little disappointed but you can watch it once for the old times sake.
