Director David Dhawan has always made movies which have no logic but most of them have managed to entertain us. "Partner" is a typical David Dhawan movie and since it is so, you should be expecting to watch a "leave-your-brain-at-home" kinda flick which will make you laugh. If you are doing just that, you need not worry - "Partner" is the right movie for you.You pay 200 bucks for the ticket and you wont feel cheated after the show gets over.
Living up to the tradition of David Dhawans movies, this one doesnt have a plot too. We have Salman Khan (who is "Prem" once again) who is a "love-guru". His job is to provide solutions to guys who want to go out with someone but either they dont have the guts to propose or they are too bad to look at. Wonder how much money can a person make that way? Forget logic...remember? He meets his "partner" (I dont know why the movie has been callede this!) Bhaskar Diwakar Chaudhary (Govinda) who is crazy about his boss (Katrina Kaif). But he is an "anari" when it comes to "dil-kaa-maamlaa" so the "khilari" has to help him out. Got it? This is what "Partner" is all about. Dont be disheartened. The comedy is so good that it will keep you glued to your seat for 150 minutes.
The movie belongs to Govinda and Salman. It can rightly be called Chi-Chi bhaiyaas comeback movie. The "Viraar-kaa-chokraa" has come a long way and he is surely Indias answer to Jim Carrey (my favourite hollywood actor). He was relegated to the backseat in Priyadarshans "Bhaagambhaag", where Akshaye Kumar stole the show. The lesser said about Nikhil Advanis dud "Salaam-e-ishq", the better. Here, Govinda is in top form. Only David Dhawan could do this. The duo have given the hindi film industry many hits in the past and this is one of the better movies in which they have worked together. The last David Dhawan flick in which Govinda acted was "Ek aur ek gyaraah", which was a terrible movie. Sallu does well too and it is a pleasure watching them together onscreen. Who is better? The answer is "Govinda". Katrina and Lara look beautiful. They are glam-dolls, just like all other heroines have been in David Dhawan movies. Rajpal Yadav (Chotaa don) isnt very funny this time. The supporting cast is okay. The music by Sajid-Wajid is groovy and good. Its comeback time for them too. Direction is fine but the first 20 minutes have been stretched, the second half is a bit weak but the climax makes up for the loss.
If we talk about the business aspect, "Partner" has everything that it needs to make it a winner. It will do well. Go for it to get entertained - dont look for anything else. In one word - "Paisa-vasool".
