Pure DAVID DHAWAN Entertainment!

David Dhawan, the king of comedy movies is back after almost two years. His last flick, Shaadi No.1 disappointed but his newest flick, Partner, satisfies highly (though not entirely) and must be watched as it is a great stress buster and paisa-vasool movie!!

The story of the movie: Prem (Salman Khan) is a ‘love guru’. His job is to help those men who want to woo their women of their dreams. He gets new patient-Bhaskar (Govinda) who wanted Prem’s help in order to woo his boss Priya (Katrina Kaif) whom he loved very much. Meanwhile, Prem gets smitten by Naina (Lara Dutta), a journalist in a newspaper named Mumbai Massala. Will Prem and Bhaskar be able to get their love?

Partner begins with an impressive and humorous note and the fun continues right till the end. The first scene of the movie is worth mentioning-how Prem became a love guru which is shown in animation. Thereafter too, there are several comic sequences, which bring the house down.

Another reason why the film works is because of the unusual pair of actors-Salman Khan and Govinda. Both actors have never acted together before and no one even expected them to come together. And they share a wonderful chemistry onscreen! Everytime they come together on screen, the film gets to an all-time high! Really, this is Bollywood’s one of the best comic jodi! It would be great to watch them again!

But unfortunately, the film has lots of flaws. Firstly, the film didn’t have much of story. One wished there had been a better story in the second half, as it would have made the movie better. Secondly, the misunderstandings in the last part made the movie a little boring. Thirdly, the Rajpal Yadav track, which was outstanding and mind-blowing, was hardly there in the second half. If the track were also shown in the ending, the movie would have surely become an excellent comedy. And because of all this flaws, the movie is not as nice as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. But though, the movie is a good entertainer and should be watched.

Salman Khan does a wonderful job here. He looks cool ‘n’ hot and is extremely likeable. However, in some scenes he did some overacting. But overall, he was fantastic!

Govinda steals the show this time!! He does a wonderful job in the same way as he did in ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’. He went completely into the skin of the character and performs like never before. Excellent! I hope I get to see more of him!

Lara Dutta looks ravishing and like in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, here too she does a fabulous job! Katrina Kaif didn’t have much to do in the movie but though she played her part perfectly.

Rajpal Yadav was outstanding. He plays the role of ‘Chota Don’ and everytime he came on the screen, he provided more laughter to the audience. However, he was only there in a scene in the second half. Ali Haji gives a smart performance! Avatar Gill was okay. Razzak Khan was there in a scene, which was the movie’s most funniest one! Rajat Bedi was okay, and so was Aatri Chhabaria.

Sajid-Wajid’s music was terrific and enjoyable. The songs which are striking are ‘Do You Want a Partner?’, ‘You’re My Love’ and ‘Maria Maria’.

As a writer, Sanjay Chhel disappointed as he began the story wonderfully but it went little haywire in the later part. But his dialogues were funny and witty!

Salim-Sualiman’s background score was as usual perfect, especially in the Rajpal Yadav’s sequences! Cinematography was stunning.

David Dhawan’s direction was as usual was exciting and great! He has always entertained viewers over the years and in Partner, he does the same job again! I hope I get to see his movies more! And he’s already announced sequel to Partner!

Some of the best scenes in the movie:

  1. The first scene in the movie (animated)

  2. Govinda’s entry

  3. The scenes in Phuket

  4. The scene where Govinda goes to attend meeting

  5. Lara Dutta’s entry

  6. Rajpal Yadav’s sequences

  7. The scene where Salman goes to Lara Dutta’s house for the first time

  8. The scene inside the cinema theatre

  9. The scene where Salman and Govinda goes to Rajasthan

10.The last scene in the movie

On the whole, Partner is a good timepass comedy of David Dhawan. It has an amazing cast, which does full justice to their roles. Though it has some glitches and cons, it is definitely worth watching…at least once!
