Starring : Govinda, Salman Khan, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif
Director : David Dhawan
Partner was supposed to be a successful partnership between the hit director – actor duo of Dhawan and Govinda with Salman added for good measure. But somewhere the formula seems to have gone wrong and the laughs generated in the older movies by this hit comedy director, seem to have lost their zing. If you are looking for entertainment then Partner is not exactly the film for you.
Salman plays the role of a ‘love guru’ who goes around giving advice to young men who just cant hit it off with women. Into his life walks Govinda, who is in love with the millionaire heiress played by Katrina.
At first Salman refuses to take on the plump, bumbling lover who just doesn’t seem the type the classy lady would fall for. But Govinda is pretty persistant (and you are supposed to laugh at all his antics when trying to convince Salman to help him) and finally manages to get the much needed advice he is looking for to hook the love of his life.
In the meanwhile the love guru himself falls for a journalist (Lara Dutta). How these two couples manage their love lives makes up the rest of the story. Rajpal Yadav is supposed to add to the comedy by playing a chhota don but most of the time you end up feeling sorry for him rather than laughing.
There are some peppy numbers and its good to see Govinda back in action but you do wish the dialogues could have been better written. Salman of course is at his charming best and his fans wont be disappointed to see this hot bod on screen once again. But you do wish Govinda could have lost some weight before taking on the movie..
A film for Salman fans alright but if you are looking for a good comedy then Partner may not be the movie for you. Watch it if you are really bored or a great fan of the actors in it…......
