John Grisham fans, here’s the book for you. The best novel of his that I’ve read up till date. If you wanna learn how to hide n stay alive in US just consider this as a short term course of the same. But its a different story in India. You dont need any of the lenghty yet detail procedures mentioned here.
Ok here’s the catch - This is the story of one Patrick Lanigan, a lawyer who becomes a partner only to learn that something shady is going on. Viola ... he turns a detective. He learns he’s about to be sacked n gathers dirt on the company, its partners n its shady cases. He’s cornered with an unfaithful wife on one hand n the firm on the other. Yet he breaks out of it all. Seems like a dream but he plans so good that you wonder what he really is. He spends 4 years on the runfrom the law. He becomes Mr.Danilo Silva n vanishes to Brazil with 90 million bucks of the firm n its client. THe firm, insurance guys et all try to locate him n hire a agency ... a cruel one at that. Meanwhile Mr.Danilo comes in contact with a woman n invests his money n even gets a new face done. Compliments Plastic Surgery.
He knows he’s gonna get caught. So he prepares his arrival. He makes meticulous plans for his release even though he is a federal fugitive. He steals the money, returns it n gets charged with capital murder.But his final trick does them all in. He does all this n walks scot free with millions in his pocket legally. Someone else’s investment as capital. All he does is collect the interest. Man if this were real I’d be glad to live not only 4 but 10 years in hiding. Its so damn easy. Enjoy your life n money keeps coming !!!
Four years on the run - the excitement , the fear n the suspense would be all too much for me but with that kind of money who’d refuse?
The author shows his brilliance in the mind boggling details of the novel. All the small things are covered too. The planning of 4 yeas n his coming release. Even the bit about a person wagging his tongue to capture him..... n surprise surprise... its him!!! Surprises such as this keep you glued to the novel. So believe it or not I was up whole night reading this novel. The unexpected turns n many n gripping. One more thing .... the woman’s hint of transfering the other money to gives you a hint, a teeny weeny hint about the ending. Of course its so well written that its impossible to guess the ending.
I say its a must read for all those people who enjoy reading.
