Below are the documents you should have with you if you want to renew your old passport and want to change your name/ Address/ Add spouse name post marriage.
1) Online Application receipt
2) 10th standard certificate
3) Address proof(Aadhar card or Electricity bill or any other address proof as mentioned in the receipt).
I carried Electricity bill but it was not valid as it should be on your husband’s name.
For Address proof Aadhar card alone is not sufficient. They will ask you for some other documents.
Best is to have your spouse passport, both original and self attested copy.
4) Old passport - get first two pages and last two pages. Even if those pages are blank its a must.
5) Marriage certificate is of no use.
Additionally, you can also carry bank passbook. -> I wasn’t carrying this.
Best is carrying spouse passport that has spouse name mentioned as your name(Spouse name: showing your new name after marriage). That will ease everything.
Kindly note that mine was not firstname change but was only surname change.
You will need additional documents incase there is a change in your first name.
