Poignant

When I started reading this book, it went too slow.. I was kind of expecting some sort of conflicts to happen!! But then, in the middle of the book I realized that it was not just an ordinary story. Its a true story which occurred between 1920’s to 1940’s when George Mallory (The protagonist here) tried to attempt first ascent of the world’s highest mountain "Mt.Everest".

The story goes on till he achieves what he came for but once he achieves it, he dies!!! Its was like reaching the dream, the aim, the victory but once reached, the end is the loss of life. It was hard to accept such tragedy in the end.. If only he returned back.. if only..

Once I read this book, I tried to do R&D myself. Was even more disheartened to see the skeleton of George Mallory & Sandy Irvin. Despite losing there lives, there is no proof that they are the first ascent of Mt. Everest. There was lot of camp items which was found but Ruth (Mallory’s Wife) photography was not found. The destiny was reached but so was life’s own destiny!!! Its based on true story & its very Poignant.
