Movie that ''rewrites' history

I’ve saw the movie by myself and was almost laughing out loud while watching it. Why? You might ask. They’ve got some mistake and also rewrote the history of Pearl Harbor.

I’ve read the other review of Pearl Harbor and love the review. The only thing is my father has been in the US military for more than 30 years, and have teach me a thing or two about US history.

I’m not going to go in detail about what happen in the movie, the other review was well written and explain most of it already. The review I’m writting is about why I didn’t like the movie. When I first saw the trailer in the theater, I thought there was some mistake in it. I thought to myself, it looks like a big budget film, they couldn’t have got the ship wrong in this one! I saw the trailer again and I was 100% sure they use the wrong crusier in the movie. They’ve used a modern warship in the movie. Not only that, they got some of the events in the movie out of order. What upsets me the most is because they are afraid of offending the Japanese and change the ending of the movie.

The orignal ending shoot was about how Japanese have capture some of the US soldier, they’ve done some really nasty experiment on them and I don’t want to go in detail of that. All I’ve said is Japanese execute 3 of the pilot right there, they’ve slaughter the villages filled wiht Chinese people because they’ve helped out the US soldiers. They’ve change it because they are afraid of the Japanese market. The movie was made by Disney (so that I heard on their website) and they’ve said they’ve made the decision out of respect for the Japanese. That made me laugh right there. Somehow whenever they made a war movies about the Nazi Germany, they were never concern of the German’s feeling. I could just see them rewriting the history in the movie, ’’Life is Beautiful’’, the German’s didn’t put them in camp, they volenteer to be in the camp and tortour themselves.

Some of the mistake in the film.

  1. Color of the Japanese plane is wrong

  2. All the ships are wrong ships/crusier/destoyers except the battle ship

  3. Wrong order on events

  4. Fictional ending

Some of you might say I’m been too picky on this movie. At first I just want to see the movie and thinking it’s about people rather than the war. Until I saw the special on the movie made by NBC (access hollywood). The producer and the writer said and I quote, ’’the most accurate interpration they’ve done on a film’’. And the director Micheal Bay have said how they don’t have the information on one of the plane, and they went and have the Japnese ancient language translater and build it from scrach. First of all, one of those Japnese plane was capture in the US. That particular plane (Zero) is in San Diego A/S museum and another one in Palm Spring. By the way, Zero is one of the best Japanese plane at the time. The small, lightweight and fast. Our fighter was the oppsite. Plus I don’t know what he was talking about, the Japenese have model of it, my uncle have build one of those modl plane

What bother me in this movie, when I complain to couple of friends about this movie. They told me this movie is about romance. Not about history. Why the heck did they name it Pearl Harbor then?

It would not bother me at all if I didn’t hear them making claim about how ’’accurate’’ this movie is and how much is based off the truth. After that, it just disappoint me on how they think public is so stupid they are not going to catch on to all the mistake.

The reason I was so sure they use the wrong ship, if you pay attention to the scenes, you’ll realize there are radar and other technology which is not available at Pearl Harbor time. There is so much available information on the subject, I don’t know why they don’t do it right. It’s almost like if James Cameron shot Titanic on the Queen Mary.
