I always use pedigree products for my dogs. We have a small kennel with us & consist of pug, Golden retriever, Labrador retriever, German shepherd, Great Dane & St Bernard.
Of course we are a small breeder & I love pets.
Before I take any decision I will do lot of R&D, survey’s & collect lot of information then I take decision after concluding all.
For my best experience I came across many dog food products as listed below
Solid Gold,
Pedigree,
Royal Canin,
Drools,
Pure Pet,
Hills,
Eukanuba, etc are available in India.
I have tested most of these products by feeding to my dogs. With observation & experiment I parked my feeding with pedigree.
Even Royal canin & Eukanuba are good but extremely high in budget when we come across for yearly maintenance cost.
I will describe you why pedigree is good & maintainable in details.
Pedigree has different food products like
Dry food
Vet food
Chew sticks
etc.
But normally it is divided into the age of the dog & the type of breed.
They developed the products based on the age & breeds.
It will be best if we choose the correct product based on the age of the dog/puppy & breed.
Breed Shows:
The all above breeds will come across different age from puppy to dog to senior level.
After my research I concluded my result to use the correct product for correct age & breed.
So the result is super.
I suggest you to use the pedigree dry product in the following way.
1) Puppy Age:
Up to 4 week must provide dog mother milk only.
Up to 12 weeks of age - Use Starter pack for Mother & Puppy.(Irrespective of the breed) Since puppy need more nutritionist it is better to give the lacting kind of food initially.
From age 3 month to 12 months.
Use Puppy Toy/Small/Medium/Large/Giant Breed Specific food. Since Medium/Large/Giant Breed puppy need more nutritionist it is better bone & hair growth we should give the proper food accordingly. Compare to toy/small breed these category breeds grow fast & face lack of nutrition. So be careful.
2) Adult Age:
- From age of 12 months change to Adult Food
Note: It is better again to go for breed specific food instead of buying common food for toy-giant breed.
3) During Whelping(breeding) - If your female dog is attained the age of whelping / to deliver puppies then better go for mother & puppy starter to provide good supplements.
It helps to avoid problems during delivery & puppy born with good health & weight.
4) Senior Age:
- This is normally we can say the age crossed after 6-7 years.
Dogs will affected by bone issues, health problems & hip displacement issues etc.
So we need to concentrate on the typical food for this age to avoid these aged issues.
