Pepsi Blue: An Experience!!!

It was the month of January this year ie. 2003 and Calcutta was thronging with fairs and festivals, the most awaited Calcutta Book Fair was on. I had to carry out my Book Fair stall duty for my organisation, cater out Multimedia children educational CDs to prospective buyers. With a live interactive demonstration to the visitors mostly kids from all age group and answer to their wild queries and spur out the incentives to the parents, who may purchase one...

Although the weather was cold but because of the tremendous dust and crowd we were exhausted to the bottom of our strengths. With World Cup Cricket 2003 just few paces away, a friend of mine an ardent cricket lover and true cricket patriot decided to treat me with the latest cricket drink, The Pepsi Blue for the Men in Blue. Already thirsty and tired when I got such a wonderful offer I was overwhelmed. So he brought 2 bottles of Pepsi Blue 500 ml each, there was a sparkle in his eyes as he handed me the bottle, I could visualize his commitment and devotion for our cricket team and their prosperity in the coming World Cup. We toasted the drink to the World Cup Eleven and took the first sip. Once inside the mouth, everything went topsy-turvy, the first thing that struck me was to spit it but respecting a friend’s kind intentions I swallowed it with great effort. It almost felt as if I gurgled in liquid Genteel. I don’t know whether it was my wild imagination or the touch of environment that had transformed me into the poetic disposition. I could feel the effervescence of the drink, the bubbles drooling out from my lips. Somewhat like the bubble blowing man in the fair with herds of kids swarming around. All my favorite comic characters came alive, Captain Haddock with his exclusive smile, all his persona and gimmicks greeted me with his loving words. Gobbledygooks!!! Ectoplasmic Byproduct!!! and many more...

I came back to earth with a bang, to my surprise I saw my friend spitting out the liquid and giving me the weirdest look, I realized it was his first time too. He was embarrassed to have offered me with such an extraordinary drink. I patted him on his back and said -

’’Kabhi kabhi aisa ho jata hai!!! never mind!!!’’..

But he wont listen, he was furious and he rushed to the Pepsi counter just to find a queue of similar experiences.

Well, don’t go by my experiences, my imaginations run wild at times. So don’t come to conclusions before taking the first sip.

Caution: Take a smaller pack than the 500ml size for safety...

Packaging and pricing: Packaging upto the standards of any Pepsi drink with Shahrukh’s or Saurav’s (I don’t remember) 32 intact on the label. The colour of the drink is turquoise blue or some other shade of dazzling blues, an artist would describe better.

Pricing: Well, I am sorry I was offered you see so I am not aware of the price...

PS: That was my first and last experience with Pepsi Blue and my friend has never treated me with any other drink other than cold coffee or lemon tea...
