Wow! I didnt know Id be the first one to write a review on this because I thought it was a sweet novel. I remember my sister reading Danielle Steel when I was younger. I always thought they were stupid stories with grown up thoughts. I had never read them before. I was like what, 8 years old?
My first book I read was The Wedding. That was a good book too, and that is what made me read more Danielle Steel.
I found this book in the public library. When reading the back, it seemed interesting. The story is about a girl named Raphaella, a half french half spanish girl who lives in the states, married to her fathers friend. He is much older than her. Then there is a guy named Alex. Hes married to a woman named Rachel, but she wants to move to New York for her career. Alex has a great job where they are living right now, which is the west. They end up with a divorce. Alex misses Rachel a lot.
Then he sees Raphaella outside sitting somewhere crying. He felt sort of sorry for her. He thought about her, but not too much. Then he sees her on an airplane. They are coincidentally sitting beside each other. Raphaella is a little reserved, but Alex brings a good side in her. They fall in love, and some sex is involved. But Raphaella feels guilty that shes married and having this affair.
Raphaellas husband keeps telling her that she should be free and have fun, as he is old and sick. He finds out about the affair, but doesnt say anything. Raphaellas father finds out too, through spies he had sent to watch over her. He is not too pleased as he feels she has cheated his dear friend.
The ironic thing is that Raphaella goes to France to meet her father unexpectedly and finds that he has been cheating on his wife as well, who was in Spain at the time. There was a politicians mistress in his house. Raphaella is furious and says her fathers a hypocrite. Her husband dies, Raphaella goes to Spain for two years in mourning, telling Alex they cant be together. But two years later she finally goes back and they get married.
I know my story analysis isnt very clear, but I read it a long time ago, and thats all I can remember. All I can say is it was a great book. Brought tears to my eyes. I thought it was really sweet and its definatly on my favorites list.
