Peter England from madura coats.
This is the economy brand of the firm that also peddles Van Heusen and Loiue Phillipe- but that does not tell the complete story.
The brand started as an effort to plug attacks on the lower side of the price spectrum in the branded shirts market, but has now evolved into almost a super-brand in its own right, with a product range spanning shirts, trousers, casuals, accessories, winter-wear etc
The Shirts:
Price range: Rs. 449 - Rs. 749
Quality: superior, esp juxtaposed with other brands as well as on the value for money scale
Colours and Designs: could be better. I have found that they are uni-dimensional in that each season one type of designs floods the market. If it bright cheques, then nothing else is available. If its muted shades of cheques, then only that. Also, the plain shades are lowsy. Havent purchased a single one.
Highlight: The price and the quality, without a doubt.
Durability: extremely reliable, washes well, holds texture for a good number of washes, retains newness for 6 - 8 months on light to medium usage. This is comparable to any premium brand
The fit: the shirts are loose cut, unlike arrows, which have a close cut{suitable to wear to weart under suits]. Avoid if you have to don a coat.
Recommendation: The range of 499 till 649 stands up to any scrutiny
The Trousers:
Price Range: Rs. 500 to Rs. 1299
Quality: The "satin touch" range is extremely good in every respect. The "Zero Iron" range is over rated @ 1299. Do not buy at that rate. If there is a scheme that brings the rate in the range of 800, then go for it. Avoid the other ranges
Durability: Satin Touch is very durable and sturdy. On this parameter, Zero-Iron loses texture fairly fast on heavy usage
The fit: Satin touch is parallel, sharply creased body fit in both pleated and non-pleated. Zero Iron is loosely fit around the thighs and tapers to a narrow leg
Recommendation: Only Satin touch. That is an excellent product
This product is very good for daily office wear, is economical. For around 1200/-, you can procure an excellent pair of shirt and trouser that lasts you for an year under moderate conditions. This product is targeted at the middle to upper middle class, and offers value for your money. I have used Satin Touch, Zero Iron, trousers of 899/-, shirts of nearly all peter england launches in the past 3 - 4 years in the price range of 499 to 649 as well as a few 699 - 749. My synopsis: Go in for only Satin Touch / Zero Iron in trousers, and the 499 to 599 price range. Theres nothing wrong with the costlier range, it is just that there is no value addition to justify the higher price range
A tip: Wait for schemes before purchasing. My experience has been that Peter England always launches sale schemes and discounts periodically.
Another general tip: When purchasing any garment, always do so just BEFORE the season starts. You get fantastic discounts on almost every brand: Van Heusen, Loiue Phillipe, Allen Solly, Colour Plus etc. That means 15 - 25 days before Diwali, Holi, New year! Net saving: 10 - 35% depending on the brand. You lose: nothing. These are stock clearance sales so that fresh stocks can be pumped in the market for the coming season!
