We bought this TV a year back for eigth grand or so and have generally enjoyed trouble free service, until it lost its audio over the last week. The service chap turned up after a couple of reminders and reset the TV on the service mode via the remote to its correct state. He warned us that the TV is fussy about voltage and shuts down its audio if voltage fluctions threaten its internals. Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that the microprocessor inside is not fully fused, as will become apparent in a day or two.
That aside, the television is a good buy, with very good color on the picture and zappa. The audio could have been better crafted, but knowing Philips, this is no surprise. The Eco-Stereo (not real stereo) is inadequate, but a pair of external speakers would do the trick. I would advice anyone buying this or any Philips TV to also get its Annual Maintenence Contract for Rs.550/-. This will take care of all hassles with the TV. Form-wise, it is a little fat and heavy and not a space saver.
