In the United States, we had a television show of Pictionary (probably more than a decade ago), which I believe it may have been the basis of the home game. There were adults playing on the TV show, and there were always many, many laughs.
As the earlier comment did a good job of outlining the idea of the game, I feel I’d be redundant to do so again. The idea was simply to draw what is on the card - no artistic ability required! In fact, the sillier the drawing, the better!
So I agree it’s a great game - especially for parties or groups of people. It’s especially good when in a group mixed with adults and children, when it is oftentimes difficult to find a game that suits both.
