Pine is one of the simplest mail clients available in Linux. It’s basic features include View, Save, Export, Delete, Print, Reply and Forward messages. It has a nice interface to guide the novice users. It also includes a variety of options for the ’’power-user’’. The basic editor is Pico, powered with a spell-checker. The background, foreground and the colours of the links, headers, footers, subject and the message can all be customized in the .pinerc file. Pine supports MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions), an Internet Standard for representing multipart and multimedia data in email. Pine
allows you to save MIME objects to files, and in some cases, can also initiate the correct program for viewing the object.
