Tetmosol and Lacto Calamine - OTC Dangers!

Piramal Pharma’s Lacto Calamine markets itself as a daily saviour for oily skin, but the formula is anything but gentle. It combines kaolin clay and zinc oxidewhich can dry excessivelywith SLS, parabens, and artificial colourants that can worsen irritation.

This isnt dermatology; its cosmetic pharmacology dressed as care. The brand thrives on nostalgia, repackaging a drying lotion into a medical-sounding miracle. Its oil control and pimple care claims lack clinical backing.

If your skin is slightly oily, expect a short-lived matte effectbut not healing or nourishment. For sensitive or acne-prone skin, its a gamble that can worsen inflammation.

On a parallel side, Tetmosol by Piramal Pharma markets itself as a medicated sulphur soap that cures scabies and itching. In reality, its an outdated formulation being repackaged for profit. The soaps active ingredient, monosulfiram, is known to be harsh on sensitive skin, and its side effectsdryness, irritation, burningoften outweigh its supposed benefits. Sold without prescription, it blurs the line between medication and cosmetics, exploiting consumer trust through medicalized branding.

What makes it worse is regulatory laxityTetmosol is still marketed aggressively despite being an old drug with minimal post-market safety scrutiny. The therapeutic image masks commercial opportunism, preying on low-income consumers and rural markets where health literacy is limited.

Bottom line: this is not careits commerce disguised as compassion. If you need dermatological help, consult a doctor instead of trusting a brand that thrives on nostalgia and neglect.
