I watched this movie for two reasons: 1. Johnny Depp and 2. Orlando Bloom. I personally had no idea what this rated PG-13 action/adventure movie was about. Well I knew pirates had to be in it and that was about it.
This movie starred Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom as the blacksmith Will Turner, and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann the governor’s daughter.
The basic plot of the movie was how blacksmith, Will Turner, formed a friendship with pirate (Johnny Depp) to rescue the governor’s daughter Elizabeth Swann and to retrieve the pirate’s ship, the Black Pearl, from his previous mutinous and now cursed crew (who kidnapped the governor’s daughter).
The curse on the crew made them turn into living skeletons whenever the moonlight struck them. This movie may not be suitable for younger audiences because the skeletal figures may scare them.
This movie had many action-based fighting scenes either involving swords, guns, or hand combat. I was very happy everything looked pretty much real and there wasn’t an over abundance of CG used. I hate when movies throw in awful CG (think The Hulk) and destroy a movie making it look stupid. Pirates of the Caribbean did not look stupid or over done.
I was totally enthralled in the movie because it was hilarious! I had no idea that it was going to be a funny movie and it kept me laughing. Johnny Depp did an amazing job (as usual) playing his part. He is a beautiful actor who makes you believe he is that character. He is hilarious and I loved his facial expressions throughout the movie. The movie wouldn’t have made it without him.
Orlando Bloom is another great actor who is going, I believe, to make it big in hollywood. He did a great job in Lord of the Rings and now he’s branching out into a movie that one wouldn’t think he would be in. He plays sweet parts and he is a very convincing actor.
Overall, the cast was very convincing and well picked and they made you wish the movie was longer! I thought the comedy in it was hilarious and everyone did such an amazing job making the movie funny and enjoyable.
I personally am not a movie buyer but I honestly think I’m going to buy this movie because it has two of my favorite actors in it and because I thought it was so funny.
