I have often wondered how many times we have cribbed about the lack of drinking water - and no I am not talking about our villages, but even in the heart of the very cities ( that supposedly are the economic drivers of our country ) we live in. We have heard all too often that population is increasingly becoming a burden on the sublime waterlevels underground....what I cant figure out is what is it that each one of us is actually doing about it ?
Outside of making such issues cetre pieces in the delighfully evolved social conversations that am sure most of us have ( including me ) over a drink every second day , have we really given it a serious thought.
I have been reading a lot on rain water harvesting .... dont claim to know too much about it yet, but from what I have learnt, its not as impossible as some of us would think. Collect water on your rooftops, suck it down to tank in your basement & use it.
Now the idea is not to be simplistic with this one - neither is it to trivialise the efforts of those who have done something about it but to trigger a lot of us who havent quite done anything about it. For one, I know that anybody I know who is going to be building a house or a new apartment, I will get after their lives to get this thing going. I will too do it the day I build mine. It is a trifle difficult to do it in existing constructions, but well that doesnt stop us from triggering off other - does it ?
I am no social evangalist - jus wanted to sow a simple thought. We actually can save some water if we get down to it. For ourselves even if for nothing else.
By the way, I read something on it in the magazine as well ........... !
