.:My Review:.

The Poet begins in the late 1980’s and ends in 1999.

A Denver, (Colorado), reporter, Jack McEvoy write for the Denver Daily News Newspaper.

His twin brother, Sean, is a police officer, who commits suicide. His wife finds out she is pregnant and is quite surprised, because they hadn’t been trying to have a baby.

The family feels he was depressed because he couldn’t solve a murder.

Jack tries to find a way to cope with his death, so he decides to investigate this.

What he discovers he tells the F.B.I. They add him to their Behavioural Science Department, and take him to Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, New Mexico and finally to California, to look for the truth about why his brother died.

Jack gets involved with once on the agent, and her ex-husband arrives on the scene.

Who is the poet? Edgar Allen Poe!

.:What I felt:.

The Poet starts out strong and he develops his characters very well. Jack is not a hero, but a very nice man.

The story twists and turns, so it is difficult to figure out what is happening.

He is a master when it comes to describing the details. The dialogue is his fabulous.

Just when you think you know what has happened, in the end it isn’t what you expected.

.:The Author:.

When Michael Connelly going to the University of Florida, he took courses in creative writing and journalism. One of his Professors was the writer, Harry Crews.

After he graduated he worked for two newspapers, one was in Fort Lauderdale and the other was in Daytona Beach. In 1986 in the United States, the Government began to try and stop drugs from entering their Country.

One day there was a storm and an airline crashed. He was one of the three reporters who were sent to interview the survivors. They wrote a story for a magazine, and it was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, (it didn’t win).

A few years later, he moved to Los Angeles, where he began to write novels. The first was The Black Echo, (1992) and the latest is called The Narrows, (2004), and this is a sequel to The Poet.

.:My Conclusion:.

I could hardly put book this book down until I finished it. It took me two days to read it.

I enjoyed reading it and I hope you will consider reading it.

Thanks for reading my review.
