I agree with many others in here that poetry written on poetry.com is a scam to get poems out of people without actually having to pay for them. If you want to get paid to write you should try writers markets. You can write articles for magazines, or books. I like poetry not as a try at winning some big time reward over my poems, but most of all having the opportunity to get more creative with my writing instead of being alone with it. Poetry.com gives me a chance to read other poems and flex my imagination in writing better and more poems that meet a certain punch line. I like to draw the audience into my writing like a maze and let them decide which way is out. Poetry.com will truly motivate you in writing poems, but it is not a good place to look for some get rich way out of writing. It takes allot to get cash out of writing and this is not the easy way out. Don’t press your luck on contest when you know you have a talent. Go forward and find yourself the right publisher and make a start at it. One thing to keep in mind when you write is that not only is it easy to manipulate the audience, but it is also easy to lose track of what you are talking about. Writing is an art. It is up to you to find out how to use it!
