Most of the successful movies fall into two categories. Of which, becomes hit, beccause of novel plot, which was never seen before. The second category consists of films, though takes a regular plot, because of its unique and gripping narration it grabs the hearts of audience.The first category films are almost a antique in Tollywood and so with the second category, until recent times, when young and creative directors, break the stereotypic grounds of masala entertainers. ’Pokiri’ is one such film, which try to balance the elements of a regular mass film, but with a unique and gripping narration, which will for sure be liked by all the classes.
The captain of this ship is ofcourse the director ’Puri Jagannath’, who has proved himself with various hits. Of course, the real star is Mahesh Babu, who carried the entire responsibility on his shoulders, effectively supported by Prakash Raj (the stylish baddie), Shayyaji Shinde ( the honest cop), Ali, Brahmanandam and others. Of this male dominated movie, Iliyana is the sure the dolly of the success, whose innocent and stunning looks will haunt youth for years.Mahesh and Iliyana made a great pair in the film, there is a beautiful chemistry between the two throughout the film.
This film is a great blend of all flavours, which a regular audience looks for. There is romance, action, emotion, comedy and above all there are punching dialogues, which makes mass audience whistle and clap at. Great all round performance by Mahesh, yet another great act by Prakash Raj, Shinde, the great comic acts of star comedians Ali, Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav made it all. Screen-play is good, without gliches. Above all, the film has excelled in technical department. The back-ground score, Cinematography, Editing are simply superb. The costumes and hair-style of Mahesh are upto the plot demands.
A sure top grosser of 2006, this film will be in the list of all-time hits of Tollywood.This film has yet another time proved that Tollywood has a versatile star with great acting capabilities in the form of Mahesh Babu, who could be a serious contender to the Mega Star throne.
