So where do I start? With the fact that we were amongst the first customers to walk in? Or that we have grown up with the place as the place has grown up? Or that after so much time spent there they still don’t give us a bulk discount ! Anyway...about the place. Most of the guys know abt the place so i’ll add my 2 paise. Seating: avoid going there on a weekend. But if you HAVE to go, then do so early.
Food: the starters are fantastic. Ask for John (short, plump, dark) and take his opinion regarding the starters. (Psssst: ask him to help out getting seats. He’ll oblige there too.) Try out the Pomfret in ranchillo sauce served starter style. You’ll love it. Or the shrimps in pesto sauce. Personally, I prefer the Mr. Boombastic. Yes service can be slow. It often takes ages to get the waiters attention or to get your cutlery refilled or the plates cleared. I sort that out by having a "special" seat and leaving a heavy tip. Works like magic! Being in John’s / Bipin’s good books doesn’t hurt. (That’s where the feedback form comes in ;-)) Lebanese Chicken wings are great for those who want the taste but without the spice.
Country wings are so-so. Just like Dominoe’s. The place is good for celebrating birthdays and the guys present an impromptu cake alongwith bells and whistles. It’s a nice family kinda place without being boring. Music has improved over the years. Evolving from their one cd that was kept on repeat mode to now. Easy on the pocket and good for a group celebration PT is affordable and yet trendy. On one ocassion a group of us, around 7 / 8 had a rollicking time (booze and starters) and the bill came to around 3 g’s only! About the salad buffet...I dunno about that. Saw it. But never got around to having it. The spread looked tooooo small and was not at all inviting. Of course, at that price what else can one expect. I rather pay a good buck and get a good k, if you get what I mean. But lets keep it clean.
Nice to see that some of you guys have met up at Pop Tates. Will keep an eye peeled if I recognise any of you’ll. I and my lady are easily recognisible; I’m 6 ft 3 and she’s 4 ft nothing! Seriously! We look like Big B and small Jaya.
