A True Portrait of Life

Harry Chapin’s music still amazes me in the style, creativity, captivity and energy portrayed in his music. His music captures the essence of life and revolves around the joy, sorrow, growth, and tragedy that are an everyday part of life. When I was a teenager and had a difficult time, this is one of the albums that carried me thorugh. The lyrics spoke, the words I could say... I’m a tangled up puppet, tangled up in knots, and the more I see what used to be, the less of you I’ve got. (from Tangled Up Puppet). Paint a picture of yourslelf, let the images flash past, don’t weep on watercolors (Michael) make this moment last. (from Paint a Picture of Yourself, subtitled Michael).

The words and images portrayed in Harry Chapin’s album Portrait Gallery truly reflect the lives we each lead and all of the pieces that encompass the days that we have traveled oin the journey we call life! It truly was a loss when this man died in a car accident in 1979 on Rhode Island. Portrait Gallery is a unique and mysterious album that is guaranteed to reach across generations and touch the heart of all. It accurately portrays life through the eyes of the old and young! Guaranteed, you’ll love it!
