An absolute favorite place of mine to eat out is Pot Pourri which is situated at Turner Road, Bandra (w) with a branch at Juhu too. As the name suggests, they offer a wide variety of cuisine from around the world, mostly continental. And believe me, each one of their preparation is a delight to taste. The authentic flavors catch you by surprise because by now atleast I have got used to eating Indianised versions of Chinese, Thai etc.
My ideal meal
I would start with a soup; Italian tomato Fresh Basil (Rs 58) which they serve with bread sticks followed by starters; Bruschetta Platter (Rs 72 ; country toast, dribbled with olive oil and heaped with toppings of Smoked Celery, cheese, tomato and basil). It is simply yummy!! Or you can alternatively try the Sosaties Afrikaans (Rs 82 ; grilled chicken skewered in sweet n spicy South African Apricot sauce). Their herbed garlic toast is also very good.
For the main course, I would suggest Ayam Baldi ( Rs 145 ; Balinese clay pot chicken with Indonesian spices and peanuts) or an all Veg Lasagna (Rs 135) or their Roast Chicken (Rs 145 ; in herb garlic with cheddar pesto). Most of the main courses are accompanied by a salad.
They also serve the most delicious pastas. You can make your own combo. I would highly recommend asking the waiter for the special of the day. They have some amazing stuff which they dish out.
And their desserts!!!! Mmmmmmmm! Served under the name of Melting Moments they offer some very unusual desserts. The highest on my sweet list is their Whiskey Slice . I can’t even describe it as words completely fail me. All I can tell you is that it just melts in your mouth and its simply delicious. I could kill for it. The Chocolate mousse is another fav of mine and so is their apple pie and the slice of chocolate cake. Absolute sin!!!
The décor here is pleasant...nothing much to talk about. It’s a regular sidewalk café on the corner of the road. I love the earthen tableware that they serve on. It is a place where you can chill out mostly with friends. It’s an open air place so if you can eat without the comfort of an a/c do try their fare. The service is fast and good and here’s one place where even the waiters know what they are talking about (what with the exotic names and ingredients). There usually is a waiting period of around 15-20 mins during peak times but it’s definitely worth the wait.
