Review on Predator:Ok, so this is a movie I have cursed myself for not watching for along time for 2 reasons:1)it’s got arnie(Arnold Schwarznegger for the uninitiated)2)it’s a superb action/sci fi movie(which is the obvious reason)Before
I really get into the details and intricacies of what this blockbuster
movie is all about, i must admit that when I saw the trailer of this
movie about 7-8 years ago, it remained etched in my mind as it had
really freaked me out.What shocked me even more was the fact that this
movie was made way back in the year 1987!!!!I mean it’s amazing how
guys could come up with such special effects even in that era &
then of course you have arnie(the greatest action movie hero ever) to
carry off the most unbelievable and scintillating action sequences....Now
coming back to the plotline of the movie(it didnt matter much), it
basically revolves around a team of commandos who are on a mission to
rescues hostages from the guerilla rebels..What they are unaware of
are, the greater dangers they face in the jungle in the form of an
alien warrior.And it’s not just any alien warrior, he uses infra-red to
spot his prey, uses stealth to camouflage itself or become invisible and
kills it preys one by one.Hunting is a sport for it and prides itself
on being a warrior.One of its interesting characteristics according to
me was the fact that it never kills anyone who is weaker than it or is
unarmed or unable to fight, displaying the characteristics that a
warrior tribe shows...There
were some remarkable scenes in the movie like the predator skinning its
preys alive displaying them like a trophy or symbol of
victory.Also, interesting was the sophisticated weapons it used to
kill.I wish though that there was a bit more explanation provided and
there were no loose ends left in concern with the origin and
characteristics of the predator.However, the logic behind all of this is
done justice to in the movie AVP(Aliens vs Predator), which is anotehr
good watch...Despite, all
the praise that I have showered upon this movie, I must say its quite
full of inconsistencies in the plot and in some action sequences.But
any body hardly notices them because the film as a complete product on
the whole is outstanding.And despite the final sequence being a bit
unbelievable in which Arnie is a one man army as he gets rid of the
predator, it still reamins the highlight of the movie!!!I am sure no
other actor other than Arnie could have carried it off.So, all
I can say to all the people out there who havnt watched this movie
is, "What the hell are you waiting for, go watch it
immediately, guys!"..And those people who have(many times like I have) I
am sure they would agree with most of what I am saying and would
definitely like to watch this movie all over again after reading this
review....PS:even if you dont trust I still suggest you go watch this movie cause its got something in it for everyone!!
