Torturous Movie of the year Award

I am not really into this criticism thing because I believe every work is a result of a lot of hard work but sometimes, there is no option.

There are two types of films made in Bollywood. One is for applause, Other is for money earning strictly(whatever might it be). Prem Ratan Dhan Payo falls in the latter.

After giving a blockbuster like Bajrangi Bhaijaan this year, here comes another movie from Salman Khan but sadly, the latter has no comparison to the former. Infact it would be a humiliation for Bajrangi Bhaijaan if compared with this latest release.

Talking about the movie, it involves the story of a fun-loving man who happens to cross path with his duplicate counterpart(who is a rich royal brat). The rich brat is taken down by his own brother due to family differences and for the time being, the fun loving guy is to perform on the behalf of his rich counterpart so as to convince others that the royal son is alive and thereby shield him from any danger.

The story is just as blank as it can get. I wonder where does such scripts arrive in our Bollywood writers mind. There are a lot of loopholes in the story. Bollywood is in a desperate need of good script writers. The director has been negligent to minor details which create a blunder in the movie. Cinematography is horrible sadly and 10 minutes in the hall, and you will start yawning(unless you are a die-hard-salman-fan, which I had been earlier).

Coming to performances, its only for Salman Khan fans. Mind it. Only for Salman fans. Salman’s quirky dialogues and attitude somehow pulls the film through. However there is nothing really Salman has to show in the film and the director has completely wasted a talent here. Sonam Kapoor as Maharani is a undigestable. She fails to do any justice to her character. Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Deepak are natural with their acting and pull their character nicely. Neil Nitin and Armaan Kohli as villain are just vacant and hollow.

Music of the film is not great either. The title track is good and there is no noticeable songs anymore.

Editing and screenplay is damn slow and within a few minutes you will realise you have done a big mistake by paying those bucks for the ticket. I literally yawned the first fifteen minutes and the rest of the movie, I was sleeping.

The movie will manage a century owing to the Salman Khan banner attached with the film but if you are looking for a movie with story, acting and thought provoking entertainment, beware.however if you are intent on spending the bucks to boost your "Bhai", happy torturing!

(PS Note-Sorry! Salman Khan fans)
