I bought a Prestige 6.0 induction cooktop for ~ 2.5K through an online website last year. The only thing I was confident of was the brand name Prestige. But I was suspicious of the induction cooktops as I heard through my relatives that induction stoves in general werent easy to operate. So, once the cooktop was delivered to me, I immediately began to check how it works.
The design was great and it was lightweight too. I boiled half a litre of milk at 1600 Watts or 1.6 KW (For those of you who are wondering what KW actually means to me, it means the amount of power that the device will use. To put it in layman terms, if you use a 1 Kilowatt device for 1 hour, it consumes 1 unit of electricity) and within 5-6 mins, the milk was boiled. And, even if milk or water drips out of the dish, there is nothing to worry. You just need to reduce the wattage using the function button, finish your cooking, switch the device off and then wipe with a mildly wet kitchen cloth. Dont touch your bare hands on the middle of the cooktop as the heat remains for some time.
The cooktop has some designated wattage levels for various kinds of items like Soup - 1600 W, Stir Fry - 2000 W, Hotpot 1600 W etc. Theres even a child lock facility which helps if there are kids running around in the house. The Pause button comes in handy at times. And, if you use any vessel other than the induction vessel or stainless steel, it throws ERR on the small LED display screen. My mom, who is not so gizmo-savvy loves this and does most of her cooking on this device, atleast 1-2 hours a day.
Overall, Im happy that I bought this cooktop. And, with the Indian govt reducing the number of cylinders per family to 6 per year, demand for induction cooktops could increase and hence their prices too. So, go and grab yourself one in case you havent still!!!!
