Jerry Bruckheimer and Walt Disney movies brought the ultimate Prince - the Prince of Persia (Don’t talk about Bollywood Prince Viveik again, please!), directed by Mike Newell (Goblet of Fire proves his gaming/adventure film-making) and acted by the ’Day After Tomorrow’ Saver Sam, Jack Gyllanhaal, in the role of Prince Dastaan, and mind it, its the ultimate adventure to go along with the party to protect the dagger from bad hands, and he have to help the Queen of Alamut, Tamina (Gemma Arthurton). There is King and the King’s son Bis (Reece Ritchie) and Garsiv (Toby Kebbell), and a street boy, who becomes the ultimate soldier, with his fighting and running and jumping and escaping skills, Dastaan, and also adopted by the king. But, just like Iraq, they were ill-informed by the King’s younger Brother Nizaam (Ben Kingsley, remember Gandhi) that there are weapons hidden in the peace-loving state of Alamut, but there is something else which he wanted. Rest, find out in the movie itself.
Performances are Rock-strong, supported by the fast editing, background scores, special effects and the action sequences. The characters of everybody suited well to the story, including the Pathan Sheik Amar (Alfred Molina) and his friend Seso (Steve Toussaint), who helps them in the cause. The fighting sequence between the tribal Seso and one of the Hassassin fighter is just ultimate, they’re shooting arrows towards each other, and running like anything. The film’s pace is real-fast, it seems that 2 hours just passed like somebody dropped the sands of time. I saw the hindi-dubbed version of the movie, and I can appreciate that Dubbing is real-good. Other I remembered are of Shoot’em up, 300, Harry Potter. Hindi dialogues are good considering the kind of dialogues we used to listen in dubbed movies. Cinematography (John Seale) with special effects are just out of this world, this combination glued well in just one other movie, that is ’300’. The attacking scenes from two sides on the city of Alamut, and the entry and fighting of Dastaan in the city is beautifull picturised by camera and special effects. Climax is as usual, the strongest part of the movie, in the sense of special effects.
Director Mike Newell has done excellent job, giving the movie all essence of an adventure movie, where you can only ask for more and more, and writing this format of review after long time leaves me here, just to end the review but I think I have given enough reasons why to watch this ultimate epic of time.
