John doesn’t let Rusty near the bazaar for a reason: John thinks that Indians are very dirty. One day rusty go bazar and meets friends. Rusty doesn’t have any hope or confidence but then he meets a kind boy named Somi and makes friends with him.

Rusty yearns to break free from his guardians who want to make a proper Englishman. Rusty wants is to venture beyond the European settlements of the town into the real India. He is very lonely and sad and even though he lives with his guardian (Mr. John Harrison), he doesn’t feel at home.

Meena had died beacuase pf this kishan had to go hardwar to his aunt’s house,somi was going to amritsar for few months,ranbir had gone to mussoirre for his furthur studies. now he was all alone in his room which was on the roof of Mr.kapoor house.
After his parents’ death. He fell lonely and sad. The guardian (Mr. John Harrison) of his not well, he doesn’t feel at his home. he is confused, obliged, helpless, lonely and sad.

Nothing could be dislike about the book,because this wasn’t the fake story ,this was the real story of Ruskin bond.
dislike about the book is when Rusty loses all his friends and his first love too. Rusty is going through several emotions: he is confused, obliged, helpless, lonely and sad. He is confused because he is a young boy between the age of an adult and child.

That all his friends got to together and they enjoyed there life.
It was a great read because it has a lot of different emotions and I like the way Ruskin Bond has written it: a simple story made into such a touching and sad book. it was written from a teenager’s perspective. He wrote this story because he too was feeling some of the emotions that Rusty was feeling in the story.
