The speaker’’s father did not use it to commute to office because he considered it as his jeep but the government’’s jeep. He preferred to walk to his office.
The narrator’’s father was a modest and sober man, He was an idealist who believed in simplicity, he refused to use the jeep saying that it was government property. He chooses to walk to his office instead of using a government jeep.
