I read my first excerpt from Khalil Gibran in another book, which lead me to seek out The Profit. What I read first was an small poem entitled The Arrow.
I have never read a book by a man who so thoroughly is in touch with himself and the world around, Khalil is able to not only show you the world through his eyes, but to feel as if you are looking upon a whole new world with your own.
This man has a soul of great beauty and sensitivity, while at the same time combining it with common sense.
I have included this small quote because I feel it is significant enough to inspire you too in bying this book.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archers hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
