In 1941, a film was produced which became known as the best film ever made. While I have yet to see it (I should be shot for it), Citizen Kane redefined filmmaking. While there are remarkable efforts by directors and producers among these years , none have quite had the effect as Pulp Fiction. It is the kind of film, imperfect though it may be, which should inspire discussion about how exciting the medium can be.
According to me, Pulp Fiction is one of those movies, either it sucks or it kicks ass, apparently with no middle ground. Pulp Fiction appears to be the most influential movie to emerge from the nineties. The film of that single-handedly changed the face of American -- and world -- cinema in 1994, Quentin Tarantinos PULP FICTION is a rare masterpiece that is unlikely to be repeated by him, or his imitators.
The danger of having as successful and explosive a debut as Reservoir Dogs is that expectations are invariably high - sometimes unrealistically so - for the follow up. Quentin Tarantino, however, has managed the near-impossible: improve upon the extraordinary. Pulp Fiction shows what can happen when a talented and accomplished filmmaker reaches his apex.Few other films have ever achieved even a fraction of what PULP pulls off in a single sequence.
This film is one wild ride. An anthology of three interconnected stories that take place in a modern-day Los Angeles , the movie impresses in every possible way. Writer/director Tarantino has merged film noir with the gangster tale and pulled them both into the 90s. As definitive as Francis Ford Coppolas Godfather saga was for the 70s, so is Pulp Fiction for todays generation. So much so that I believe now there r two cinematic eras A.T. (After Tarintino) & B.T(Before Tarintino). The Tarantino style has become the Greenwich Mean Time for an entire genre -- the edgy, after-hours comic thriller.
For anyone who thought they knew of Bruce Willis and John Travoltas acting ability, a surprise awaits. Whether its an effect of the script, the direction, or something else, these two turn in surprisingly strong performances. And theyre not the only ones. Uma Thurman, Ving Rhames, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, and the director himself are all excellent. And then theres Samuel L. Jackson, who was unbelievably perfect. This movie gave me two favourites..director & actor...ofcourse SIR QUENTIN TARINTINO & SIR SAMUEL JACKSON....infact me & my friends were looking for movies of all the guys who acted in this movie after we saw pulp fiction....i saw this movie when I was really getting bored with the kinda movies which were being released in theatres of india....then I saw PULP FICTION...& it was like something hit me....i went back to the theatre for 3 consecutive days...and have been watching it at regular intervals....few films have left me so charged with the pure thrill of movie-making.
Quentin Tarantino became a star because of this movie and Im hoping he can return to form. Jackie Brown was a decent film, but you get the feeling Tarantino can do better again. He would be forgiven if even he never does a film as good as Pulp again.
I left Pulp Fiction feeling as though I had not simply watched a movie, but experienced one.Tarantino makes pictures for movie-lovers, and Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece. If u havnt seen this movie yet then u havnt seen anything .......And if anyone didnt like this movie I suggest him to spare my reviews as I am sure he wouldnt like a single movie I reccomend....If you cant sit still long enough to appreciate something as wonderful as Pulp Fiction, then I say this: you werent bored, you are boring-- stick to the vomit.
