When I was a little boy in the mid 80s, money was really hard for my family to come by. We got a welfare check and all but it just wasn’t enough, My poor mother used to scrounge around in dumpsters
outside of McDonalds at times just to get a hot meal to feed us kids. Quality sneakers on the other hand were even tougher to come across then a half eaten Big Mac without flies on it.
One day however we hit the jackpot and found a wonderful pair of Puma’s for myself. We hadn’t been so happy since the government gave us 2 blocks of cheese instead of the usual 1 by mistake. After all this time I had finally gotten a new pair of sneakers. The ones I had on were a cheap $7 pair of Traxs my mom had gotten from the supermarket 2 years earlier. They were really a mess. They were all beat up and we had to use duct tape to hold them together. The Pumas on the other hand were in great shape. A little dirty and someone had stepped in dog poo with them, but hey, beggars cant be choosers. They had a nice sturdy feeling to them and fit very well. The kids wont be making fun of me in school anymore I thought. HAHA, Maybe now I can even hang out with some of the cool kids at school.
The very next day I proudly laced up my new Puma’s and got ready for school. The bus came and I eagerly ran out to it and when I got on I started showing them off to all the other kids. They made fun of me and my new sneakers. I didn’t listen to them though. I knew they were just jealous of my find and wanted a pair of their own. They all wore Nikes which were made by 6 year old slave children in other countries.
When we got off the bus they all beat me up and threw my sneakers up on some power lines. I cried alot that day. Luckily I can afford to by my own Pumas now and don’t have to go fishing around in dumpsters anymore. I highly recommend these sneakers to anyone who wants to look cool. Just be careful. Puma sneakers are of the finest quality and others who don’t have them may get jealous and beat you up.
