Wrong Information Of Recurring Maintenance Charge

I bought Pureit last year with great expectations from HUL. I had been a user of Eureka UV for more than a decade. Besides the lower UV wattage, recurring cost was an issue with Eureka and as HUL quoted 3000l of use before replacement for a CFL, I believed the recurring cost would be less. However, water started leaking just at the end of 3month of use. We called in service center and the representative asked us to change the CFL.

We are a family of 2, both working, and have our drinking needs satiated from outside during the day time. As per 3000l quoted number, it comes out to be 33ltr of usage / day for us, which would not be a case even if we wash clothes in filtered water. When we told him that its just 3 months from the date of purchase, he told us that it is a problem with a pressure as you are on the 9th floor in the 18th floor building. He asked us to put a pressure valve for more than a 1000bucks and we obliged.

The problem however didn’t end there. Every 3month we continued to receive a change in CSF light or leaking water. In today, I received the "change CSF" indicator for 4th time bringing my overall cost of maintenance to Rs4000/year. Had company not claimed of wrong numbers, I would have happily bought Eureka and paid~Rs1500 for per year maintenance. I still cant imagine company like HUL cheating people like this but I cant get 4th time unlucky with the same product.

In addition, if its a faulty product, I would like HUL to make the corrections to the same and train its service personal who sell unnecessary accessories for unwanted reasons. I would appreciate if this complaint helps sort the issue.

*Post corporate response in May*

The response was never been an issue and the company representative(later on found him to service franchisee) did turn up. After multiple rounds of tube replacements, I gave up and expected leakage to continue. Though I ended up spending Rs.1200 more to get an external filter from company to stop mess of frequent candle replacement.

So that brings the overall cost spend on this device in **1year of operation at Rs7.5k(buy price)+ Rs2.1k(external accessories to reduce pressure and pre filter water)+ 3.8K(4 candle replacements)*

Meanwhile, the service person found cracks in hanging point(plastic damage) which he willingly replaced as its surprised him as well. During these times of visit, my UV lamp got fused and was replaced in warranty. I am not sure if this machine was faulty but I have replaced part part of this machine during the year and my troubles still persist.

In all, I was burdened financially and mentally to be the first mover on this product and would not at all recommend this to anyone, despite quick service response by the company (which should not be required in case product is of high quality).
