For a rock lover like me, the best pub is located in secondfloor of residency road in Bangalore and called “Purple Haze”, it was one of the few pubs to start the “only rock music” trend when the whole lot of pubswere in the pop genre. The pub itself is pretty huge, roughly into 2 sectionswith a bar located between. On weekends though you will have your beer standing unless you get a reservation orcome early .There are paintings of rock stars too ( I remember Janice Joplin, Freddie mercury and maybe ozzy ) the DJ counter is right near the entrance witha large screen TV between the 2 portions of the pub, which usually plays all the concert DVDs and music videos.
Now for the music , they usually play the good old era of rock mainly Ozzy , Pink Floyd, Metallica , Iron Maiden and of course, The Doors .Ironically not muchof Hendrix .The last time I visited they were into more heavy stuff and newmetal with bands like Rammstein and linkin park , which I am not a huge fan of. All in all the pub still playsgreat rock music
The food and drinks are nothing much to talk about, havetasted better beer in pubs around .The customer service is decent (I knew quitea couple of bartenders so not much trouble for me) but on a weekend its prettybad .Its all negligible if u love the music. The last orders will be around10.45 and you will be out by around 11.15 or so. There was a time when I usedto visit it almost every week. Now with many other rock pubs and lounge barsopening, its not the “happening place “ to be .It was my kind of pub, it stillis I guess, and I will definitely give it a big thumbs up to all the metalheads.
