The First Presentation that I Attended
On 17th June 2007, in Manzini(Swaziland) was my first time to hear about the monster ‘QuestNet’. I’m not glorifying it but really does appear to be a very big company. I had been invited by my in-laws to come for the meeting. I think they invited me because they wanted me to push them up by joining as their down line. In one of my articles, I relate exactly how I was called to attend. The occasion was called ‘A business Meeting’. I took my time to attend, bringing with me a laptop, a pen and a paper just to make sure that I don’t miss even a single point from the presenters. Just before the meeting started, I looked around to see if there was anybody I know who had attended the meeting. We were a group of about twenty and I wasn’t expecting to see a lot of people that I know. To my surprise, I had met about six of the people before. Instantly, the element of competition started to build up in my mind. Eventually the presentation started. Wow, a reputable man(country coordinator) stood in front of us to present a business lady from Kenya who had made millions of dollars in the shortest time imaginable. The introducer went on to tell us the names of those who had already joined the QuestNet community from the locals, himself included. During this time, my minded was off because I was looking forward to the real business idea. The credits for the idea(the company) and the presenter were just beyond human imagination, it appeared as if we had reached an all time solution to our financial problems.
The moment of truth came and the presentation started. ‘I’m so and so, from Kenya and has done A, B, C, to no avail. Bla, bla, bla, …’ Worth noting is that all other products and services were discussed, but special emphasis was made on the bio-disk. I have written my open thoughts on this product as well in a separate article. In fact, all the other products seemed irrelevant and extremely expensive. However, others opted for some technology and jewellery items.
The Challenge During the presentation, everyone was attentive until the end. None went out for whatever reason, simple because we couldn’t afford doing so. I don’t know about others, but I thought of my credit card and thanked God that I had one and that it had some credit. Instantly I knew I was ahead of many because of the credited credit card and the fact that the requirements were a bit difficult for some. These were the challenges to most attendees:
Strictly e-commerce - Unless you have access to the internet, it was impossible to participate.
Payment in US Dollars - Our currency is at par with the South African Rrand and the rate at the time was around 7.5, which was expensive.
Payment method - I’m only aware of the e-card, but I don’t know how it works. I know that credit cards are limited in the kingdom because there are some challenging requirements to meet before getting one.
I had no problem at all with any of these three requirements. After the meeting, I wanted to know more on how this programme works. As it had been presented already, I was assured that I only have to join and buy. That it! No working at all. I can just help if I so wish by getting two down lines, but it was just unnecessary. From the meeting, I went back home to my wife and told the good news. She first didn’t understand what I was up to, but eventually bought into the idea. I knew very well that if I could join the following day, all the others would be my down lines. To be precise, I hoped so. My Spirit was a bit disturbed and deep inside I got this feeling of being confused. I was indeed overwhelmed by the presentation and no thought would be strong enough to persuade me otherwise. Lets pause for a fresh start in part 2.
Jumping on the Bandwagon
Having considered the reputation of the national coordinator, I was not hesitant to take opportunity of being at the top of the list. A few days latter(I think it was 2 days) I forced my way and showed up to the national coordinators office(approx. 30 kilometers drive) to get all the necessary information for meeting the requirements to join and be an independent representative. I was provided with a photocopied form that was not so reflective of the ‘rich’ QuestNet that had been introduced to us in the presentation. However, it seemed not to be a problem as the actual joining form would be provided on the signing up web page. Seeing the national coordinator in person gave me a chance to ask some more questions. Even though some of the answers I got were not so satisfying, but one response raised my hopes ‘I must get this thing to work, so if you join I will support you by giving you some down lines because you are one of the first people to respond. Basically, you need not worry because I will do the rest for you’. I was convinced. I filled the form and gave the joining fee in cash for the coordinator to allocate my virtual office. I wanted to be a down line to the friend who had invited me for the presentation. The coordinator had all the information. Within a few hours, I called the coordinators office to get my independent representative(IR) identity number and the password so that I could do my qualifying purchase. I considered myself lucky because I did this particular transaction with the guidance of the expert over the phone.
I chose the bio disk because of two reasons:
It was the cheapest product that could qualify me as an IR
It was the only health product that had been fairly marketed in the presentation
I went for and my transaction was through before the end of the day. I therefore qualified and had to bring in at least two people to the service to activate my account. I called the national coordinator and told him of my success and of course reminded him of the promise he had made to help me get some down lines. I assured myself of success because I was at the top. I relaxed for a few days; without telling anyone and ignoring all invitations to presentations. I thought that there was no need for me to attend because I knew the presentations wouldn’t be anything different from what I already knew.
The Success Assurance
A week or so days later, I called my up line enquiring on the progress made over the period. I also wanted to learn more about the scheme we had joined. His responses were encouraging because he re-assured me of three things I knew from the first presentation.
For everyone that joins in our national market, the coordinator will make sure that the down line tree balances across. This means that;
Once you have joined you can relax and only see the money spinning into your bank account because with QuestNet;
3. Greed is out of picture.
That was truly good news for me and I was a little bit comfortable that I had made a good decision by joining QuestNet.
