Over the last one year I have traveled in Quick Cab over 10 times. with every ride the experience has gone from bad to worse. My first two trips from Gurgaon to New delhi Rly Sation were ok. But things started going bad from then on.
On the third trip, the cab driver refused to turn on the AC stating that the AC was not working. I then told him to turn on the knob & let me see for my self. surprisingly the AC was working fine. Quickly he resorted to other excuse that there was no gas in the AC & that it would affect the cars performance. I threatened him that I would complain to the office. This sort of worked for a while. But whenever he got an oppurtunity, he kept on switching off the AC & everytime I had to tell him to turn it back on. It was horrible.
During my next trip, the driver refused to turn on the AC stating that he had cold & rather told me blatantly to roll down my window. Since I was in hurry I couldnt do anything much.
On my second last journey, the driver told me on phone that he would be needing to get CNG and that it would take 15-20 minutes for that. But when we reached the gas station, there was a long line. He called his boss(the car owner) and talked to him in haryanwi language(which I couldnt decipher much, though more or less it was about the CNG issue). After hanging up the phone, he told me that I would be needing to pay 70- 80 extra as he had to run the car on petrol instead of CNG. I refused to do so & he blatanly asked me to get off the car. Since I had to catch a train, I agreed. But just before reaching the station, I dialled the quick cabs office number & talked to the person incharge. He then, talked to the driver & told him not to take extra money.
During my last ride, the driver kept on taking longer routes. When asked why he was doing so, he simply told that the road was bad or that he was avoiding traffic. So the journey which usually is around 28 km turned out to be 33k.m.
Why is the service so pathetic.?
The cabs are not owned by quick cab . They are just the booking agency. The cabs are owned by the local travel agents. Quick cab just forwards them the booking. Hence the drivers avoid using AC, so that they can save more money. Moreover the drivers in most of the cases are locals of haryana, who by birth are rude.
Why do people still use this service?
Well the only reason for this is that there is no alternative if one has to travel say 30-40 k.m. Other cabs charge 15 Rs/km thats almost 5 Rs more per k.m. So on the over all journey that turns out to be around 150 - 200 Rs.
Coming to the title "not for polite people", I would recommend this cab only to those who have an experience of facing the Jats(locals of haryana) and are ready to raise a voice in protest. Also dont expect neat seats(they are soiled most of the times). Not recommended for ladies and those travelling with families. And if you are going over a shaort distance(say < 20 km), kindly avoid this cab agency.
