Qurbani is a great masala film. Its well written, aptly acted and the music is pretty good.
First, The Music:
The most remarkable thing about this film is ofcourse the music; the song Aap Jaisa Koi is the thing most people remember about the film, and its picturisation with Zeenat shimmying around. Its a great piece of 80s cheese, with the most unlikey band playing a pop song, especially the aunty-ji playing bass guitar. Its great fun to watch; from the shiny disco balls to the novelty black guy, its awesome.
The other memorable song is Laila Main Laila; I love the bass line, Amjad Khans terrible wig, Zeenat pretending to dance in between the flashes of light, and ofcourse the song isnt complete without the absolutely awful bridge.
The other songs were pretty good too, but those are the two that stick out right now.
The Acting:
I think this was Amjad Khans second best role after Gabbar Singh. He was charming, clever and always on the ball. It was great watching him flirt with the baddies just before arresting them or kicking their asses. The fight scenes were exactly what youd expect from a 70s-80s Hindi masala movie, but you cant blame it for not trying.
Feroz Khan was also very good, though probably not as smooth as he may have liked to have come across.
I actually dont like Vinod Khanna, but he was rather good in this role (complete with topless running around)
Zeenat aman the toughest conditions to work under! She was trapped under a sprinkler throughout the duration of the film, its a good job she packed a white sari to frolic around in. The sprinkler guy sure is forgetful, he seemed to accidentally place it near Zeenat everytime the camera was rolling. She did a very good job considering the conditions.
Amrish Puri had an afro! Thats all I need to say.
The Story:
Quite a well written film, with all the twists and turns youd expect from a masala movie. The plot twists and turns and keeps you glued throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I know you will too.
