I am not a great fan of Aditya Chopra films and SRK. I was still curious to see, what the duo had to offer after the gap of almost 8 years! The film promos promised something different, what with SRK donning a whole new look of a seedha sadha working class man, which was a refreshing change from his overtly metrosexual look in Om Shant Om. Moreover, I was more than a little intrigued by the opposite lead, Anushka Sharma(AS), who plays SRKs love interest.
SRK plays a typical middle class simpleton whose life revolves around his work. By twist of fate, AS gets married off to SRK in accordance with her fathers dying wish. Now, young and bubbly AS has to adjust with dull & boring life of a housewife. Despite her best efforts she is unable to reconcle herself to the sudden change and losses her zest for life. SRK soon realises this and in a desperate effort to woo his forlorn wife, he creates second identity for himself as Raj, a loud, vivacious and infectiously enthusiastic Punjabi lad. Then the story revolves how AS gets infatuated with Raj, only to realise that her true love is her husband.
Let me get it straight I didnt like this movie at all. How could Aditya Chopra think that viewers would believe that a wife wouldnt recognize her husband just because he has removed his moustache, changed his hairstyle and now rides a sports bike instead of scooter? Sorry Mr. Chopra we are not as dumb as you think. The most annoying part of the movie was its logic, which was totally absent. Everything was explained by Rabs marzi. Particularly irritating was Raj, his cheesy lines, awful jokes and his pravachan on love.
I couldnot digest the 180 degree change in personality from introvert and shy to loud and shamelessly flirtatious But of all the absurdities that characterzes the film, the Sumo fight stood out as the worst.Every thing in the film was logicless but nothing prepared me for this sheer absurdity! You have to watch it to believe it, how dumb it is!
However, there were some good points like music was relatively better than the movie, SRK delivered his role as Surender Suri quite well though Raj was a disaster. The beautiful Anushka Sharma impressed me with her performance, and it was for her that I sat through the movie!
All and all totally bakwas! bheja fry.
Watch it only if you have really nothing to do and can spare some time to spot and laugh at the absurdity of the movie.
