I have given ’RACE’ 4 star as its pretty different from normal Bollywood flicks.To some who have already seen this latest suspense/thriller, it may sound bit high but definitely one star solely to performance of Saif.
RACE definitely rides on superb and strong role play by Saif Ali Khan and a surprisingly pretty good performance by Akshaye Khanna.The movie if its clicks at box office( which it should) should be because of superb role plays by them and ofcourse pretty ok direction and music too.
STORYLINE: The storyline of movie is such that it keeps you thinking throughout the movie and every time you think you have read director’s mind you are proved wrong.For me the storyline or say’twists and turns’ is one of the positive of the movie.Abbas Mastan have done pretty decent job after their disastrous last 2 movies.These days stoyline is not the major aspect of Bollywood Movies but definitely this movie is different.
MUSIC: Another positive aspect of movie is its music.My best was was ’Pehle Nazar Mein’ By Atif Aslam, though other tracks like ’Race Saanson Ki’ sung by Sunidhi and Neeraj and ’Zara Zara Touch Me’ and’Dekho nashe Mein’ are not to be left behind.Every track has a different set of flavour and definitely provides you variety.Again thums up to the music.It was definitely good if not outstanding.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES:
SAIF ALI KHAN: Superb, outstanding is what you can say.Saif has really done justice to the role and has come out with a strong character.Also his bearded outlook in movie throughout suits him pretty good and is in line with kind of character he plays.Still full credit to him for superb effort.His dialogue delievery is also one of significant aspect and definitely he has put lot of effort in playing the character.
AKSHAYE KHANNA: He is one of underrated Bollywood Actors **but he has also come up with a brilliant performance.Role play is something which you will find lot better than his earlier movies.Full marks to him for his efforts.
BIPASHA BASU, KATRINA KAIF, SAMEERA REDDY:I have grouped their name together as they provide add ons in the movie and revolve around Saif and Akshaye.Whatever role they were given, they have done it pretty well.Sameera’s role is not that significant but she’s done ok.Bipasha and Katrina and pretty ok but nothing special, maybe their role was not of kind where they can give expectional performance.
ANIL KAPOOR: He’s not to be left behind.**He like Welcome has scored some points here too in the movie.He’s played pretty lively character eating lots and lots of fruits through out the movie.He has played character really well and was definitely adds to the success of the movie.
CLIMAX: Climax scene of movie is also something which gives movie a positive edge.Definitely watch out for the RACE in the end.Climax scene is big plus.Keeps you glued together till end of movie.
FAST RACING CARS, Beautiful south Africa adds to the all this.
All in all for me its worth watching once.Watch it for some individual brilliant performances, music, a different if not exceptional storyline and neat direction and superb climax.
